Take a look at how Universities in China are ranked

Chinese universities are ranked globally and regionally through various systems:

– Globally, as of 2023, China has the highest number of top universities listed in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), US News and World Report Best Global University Ranking, University Ranking by Academic Performance, CWTS Leiden Ranking, and SCImago Institutions Rankings. Specifically, China had 214 universities out of 1,000 in the 2023 ARWU, and 32 Mainland China universities were in the global top 200 according to the ARWU.
– Regionally, China has been leading the QS BRICS University Rankings and the Times Higher Education’s (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings, having 7 of the top 10 spots. In the QS Asia University Rankings of 2020, over 120 Chinese universities were included, with five in the Asia Top 10.
– Nationally, China has over 3,000 higher education institutions. The “Double First Class Plan” designates around 147 as national key universities, and these are some of the most renowned in China, often maintaining high rankings both nationally and globally. In the 2023 Best Chinese University Rankings, 90 of the top 100 universities nationwide were “double first-class” universities.

These rankings reflect the academic prestige and research impact of Chinese universities on both a global and regional scale.
